The Performing Arts Academy at East Lake opened beginning in the fall of the 2013-2014 school year. The goal of the Academy is to prepare students for advanced studies and careers in music.  Techniques and standard practices of the Theater and Music Industries are a central focus in this Academy.

Future course offerings we plan to include:

Sound Engineering -This course will center on sound recording and sound reinforcement. Students will become proficient in using the industry standard recording software ProTools. Students participating in this course of study will graduate with a portfolio of recordings and accomplishments including sound reinforcement of our Instrumental, Choral, and Drama productions. In addition, students auditioning for college music and drama programs will have the opportunity to include studio quality recordings in their audition package.

Music Composition and Arranging – This course will introduce students to the art of composition using the industry standard software programs Finale and Sibelius.

Speaker Design – (When staffing and schedule permits) Using the science of acoustics and speaker engineering software, students will design and build audiophile quality speakers. This course may be covered in Sound Engineering class.

Chamber Orchestra – This is for advanced students wanting to perform more difficult literature.

Business Theater Management and Production – This class will cover techniques of management and production for the theater.
